When I was thirteen years old, I started a band with my best friend from school.
After achieving the impossible dream of headlining the Goring village fête, we embarked on a lifelong adventure of music, friendship and trying to look sexy and aloof in photoshoots. Once we'd collected more tour stories than we knew what to do with, I adapted a few into my debut novel, MOCKSTARS.
The Lightyears are still going to this day, and we're lucky enough to have toured the world, performed at Wembley Stadium and Glastonbury Festival and shared a stage with members of Queen, Journey and The Who.
What's our secret to surviving three decades in the rock ’n’ roll trenches? Simple. Have fun, make sweet music, and never forget that in 2008 we accidentally played a gig in a crèche.
